All-grain White House Honey Ale

By | 02/10/2012

This is an all-grain version of the White House Honey Ale. I was a bit sloppy and forgot writing down the OG / FG values, but it turned out as quite a smooth yet strong beer. My guests enjoyed it thoroughly. However, what is really missing is actual Icelandic honey as an ingredient. I figure that is enough reason to brew it again at some point in the near future.

Notes

Initial mashing: 25 liters.
Added 1.5 liters of boiling water to mash after about 40 minutes as temperature had dropped from 75 to 67 celsius.
-pre boil gravity: 1.040, yield about 19.8 liters
- added only 400 grams of honey... ended up with about 13 liters of wort post-boil.. And an OG of 1.080; added 7 liters of water in the hope of bringing OG down far enough.
